Okay guys, so this is my first review! It may not be as in depth as Beckett reviews and so on, but I'm going to give it a go and feel free to give me some constructive criticism.
Okay so things you need to know about these packs are that there is 40 total cards per pack, this is distributed between 5 packs with 8 cards in each pack.
I won't list every single one, but some examples of things to look out for are:
- Playoff, Championship, Superbowl & Cracked Ice tickets numbered to 199 or less.
- Printing Plates (Cyan/Yellow/Magenta/Black, All numbered to 1.
- Rookie, Championship, Superbowl & Cracked Ice Ticket Variation numbered to 199 or less.
- Rookie & NFL Ink Gold (Numbered to 10.
- Inserts such as Touchdown Tandems, MVP Contenders and Legendary Contenders
On average, you will pull an Bonus Auto in every 1 in 3 packs. (On this occasion, I did pull a bonus auto.
Okay so the first thing I notice about the contenders base cards is how clean the design is. Compared to other types of packs such as Topps Fire which have a lot going on, the contenders look clean, well designed and very sharp. The text on the front of the cards is silver and depending on the team, the contenders logo is different colours which in some cases looks really cool. The pictures of the players are solid pictures layered over a slightly transparent logo of the team they play for. The team name, player number and position is all located on a minimalistic little strip up the left side of the card.
On the reverse of the card, things still stay very clean, sharp and tidy. There is no paragraph describing the player or a certain game what they played in. There is just things such as Team Rankings (Offensive Rank, Defensive Rank, Wins and Losses) as well as the round and year the player was drafted (for example the Brian Hartline card I'm going by says RD4 2009) and another picture of the player over a slightly transparent team logo
Looking at some Inserts, starting with the Touchdown Tandems insert I pulled in this pack. I pulled a Redskins Robert Griffin III & Pierre Garcon Tandems card. One thing you notice about these tandems cards is the fact the base colour of the card is a team colour. For example the base colour of this card is the red of the Redskins logo. There is a big silver title at the top of the card which looks neat and well placed, along with pictures of both players on either side of the card, although on these inserts they are not in front of the team logo.
On the reverse of the tandems card is a small paragraph stating how the two players work well together, with their names, positions and pictures along with a small team logo.
The second insert I will briefly look at is the Donte Moncrief 'Draft Class' insert which I pulled. This is a really nice looking card, it is printed horizontally on the front rather than vertically and has a large space for a picture of the player in front of an NFL Draft logo. The base colour of the card is white with a sort of 'mist' which is the teams colour (in this case, blue). The text on the card is silver.
On the reverse of this card is another small paragraph to briefly explain some strengths of the player, a draft logo, team logo and a black & white picture of the player.
The Hits Pulled
Okay so my hit from the pack was a Jadeveon Clowney patch card. These patch cards are far from the best looking patches out there, but they're neatly put together like the rest of the cards in this pack. They keep the design simple and pretty minimal. The patch cards are almost identical to base cards, minus the fact that the players portrait is different, the text is a different colour depending on the player (in this case Navy) and pushed to the side a little, to make room for a small patch.
The reverse of this card is very similar to the base cards of this set, difference been a slight change in the layout. All the same information is provided.
Onto my bonus hit!
Okay so I was lucky enough to pull a bonus hit which was a St.Louis Rams Garrett Gilbert Rookie Auto.
The first thing I noticed was how pristine the auto looked on the card. The cleanliness and minimal design of the card makes the auto really stand out and look very sharp. The front of the card is exactly the same as the base, with the exception of the auto under the 'Rookie Ticket' on the front.
The back of the auto card is the same as the patch, displaying the same information, just in a different layout.
